I stumbled upon some equipment and this approach at a medical conference and tried it on myself! Since bringing this equipment to our office, our patients are getting better faster without the use of drugs or surgery.

The Results...

Our patient's knees IMMEDIATELY felt less stiff, they instantly gained back mobility and were able to walk without a limp for the first time in many months and for some years!

Neuropathy Program

Neuropathy Program

Peripheral neuropathy is a result of damage to the nerves often causing weakness, pain, numbness, tingling, and the most debilitating balance problems. This damage is commonly caused by a lack of blood flow to the nerves in the hands and feet which causes the nerves to begin to degenerate due to a lack of nutrient flow. Additionally, it is not uncommon for individuals with diabetes to develop diabetic nerve pain or diabetic neuropathy, which is a result of prolonged levels of elevated blood glucose.
The most common method your doctor will recommend to treat your neuropathic pain is with prescription drugs that may temporarily reduce your symptoms. These drugs have names such as Gabapentin, Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Neurontin, and are primarily antidepressant or anti-seizure drugs. These drugs may cause you to feel uncomfortable and have a variety of harmful side effects.

The main problem is that your doctor has told you to just live with the problem or try the drugs which you don't like taking because they make you feel uncomfortable. With proper treatment of neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy, the blood vessels will grow back around the nerves much like a plants roots grow when watered.EFFECTIVELY TREATING YOUR NEUROPATHY.
In order to effectively treat your neuropathic pain, three factors must be determined:
1) What is the underlying cause?
2) How much nerve damage has been sustained?
NOTE: Once you have sustained 85% nerve loss, there is likely nothing that we can do for you.
3) How much treatment will your condition require?
The treatment that is provided at Dr. Stidwell's DC, office has three main goals:
1) Increase blood flow
2) Stimulate small fiber nerves
3) Decrease brain-based pain.

The treatment to increase blood flow utilizes a specialized infrared light therapy using light emitting diode technology. This technology was originally developed by NASA to assist in increasing blood flow.

The low-level light therapy is like watering a plant. The light therapy will allow the blood vessels to grow back around the peripheral nerves and provide them with the proper nutrients to heal and repair. It's like adding water to a plant and seeing the roots grow deeper and deeper. The amount of treatment needed to allow the nerves to fully recover varies from person to person and can only be determined after a detailed neurological and vascular evaluation. As long as you have not sustained at least 85% nerve damage there is hope!

How Chiropractors Use Kinesio Tape to Treat Knee Pain

At Copiah Family Wellness & Chiropractic Center, Dr. Stidwell uses kinesiology tape—not traditional rigid sports tape—to support the healing process of injuries such as knee pain. This elastic, skin-like tape can:
  • Provide pain relief
  • Decrease swelling
  • Support injured joints
  • Improve the body’s proprioception (its sense of position and movement)
By gently lifting the skin, kinesio tape reduces pressure on underlying tissues and sends signals to the nervous system that can help restore motion and muscle activation. While some research shows benefits in pain relief and function, more high-quality studies are still needed to confirm its effect on actual tissue healing.

What is Kinesiology Tape?

  • Material: A stretchy, elastic adhesive tape that mimics the thickness and flexibility of human skin.
  • Design: Unlike traditional sports tape, kinesiology tape is designed to stretch—often up to 20–40% of its resting length.
  • Application: Applied with varying levels of tension directly to the skin to gently lift muscles, fascia, and tissues, creating space and improving mobility.

How it Works in Chiropractic Care

  • Stimulates Skin Receptors: The tape increases sensory (afferent) signals to the brain through the skin.
  • Restores Proprioception: This extra sensory input helps the body regain awareness of joint position and movement, especially after injury or overuse.
  • Improves Function: Enhances muscle coordination and joint stability, helping restore normal movement patterns.
  • Provides Support: Offers gentle support and stability to weakened muscles and joints during the healing process.

Common Uses at Our Clinic

Dr. Stidwell may use kinesiology tape for:
  • Ankle sprains
  • Back pain or muscle spasms
  • Shoulder instability
  • Reducing swelling and inflammation
  • Decreasing pain after sports injuries or overuse

Important Considerations

  • ⚠️ Not a Cure-All: Kinesiology tape may reduce pain and improve function, but it does not directly speed up tissue healing.
  • 🩺 Proper Application is Key: It should be applied by a trained professional, such as a chiropractor, for the best results.
  • 🚫 Avoid on Open Wounds: Tape should never be applied to broken skin.
  • ⚖️ Mind Psychological Dependence: Over-reliance on tape can sometimes cause athletes to feel they can’t perform without it.
📌 Note: If you are experiencing a sports-related injury, knee pain, or another musculoskeletal concern, schedule an appointment with our team to see if kinesiology tape could be part of your personalized care plan.

Headaches & Migraines

Headaches & Migraines

Using targeted methodology, we adjust the alignment of your spine to improve spinal function and alleviate stress on the nervous system. This allows your body to function more normally and reduces the risk of stress and tension building until headache pain develops.
Auto Injury

Auto Injury

Our chiropractor's goal is to properly align the spine so that the vertebrae are properly positioned and there is no compression on the nerves in the spine. By doing this, we can reduce most of the pain you feel after an auto accident.
Prenatal

Prenatal

Not only can routine chiropractic care help manage pain in your back, hips, and joints, it can also establish pelvic balance. That can provide your baby with as much space as possible over the course of your pregnancy. This may lead to a faster, easier labor and delivery.
